Out of Site Chicago 2015 is now in week 4 of its public performance programming in and around the Wicker Park-Bucktown neighborhood. Over the past 4 days, Michal Samama (Chicago) has presented a slow, durational performance entitled "Sidewalking." Samama responds to the streets of Chicago through extended movements, whistles and found objects. Out of Site Chicago Director, Carron Little notes, "She (Samama) started the week at 7am and whatever time and location she ends each day she will start again the next day." Samama concludes her performance tomorrow (Friday, August 21st). If you are in the area, follow the whistles! This Saturday, August 22nd, the OoS team features the work of Fereshteh Toosi (Iran/Virginia). Toosi plans to lead a walking tour of a multidisciplinary exploration of the element lithium in a work entitled “The Lithium Diaries.” Yes, that's right, lithium. Toosi has even set up a Craigslist ad to generate walking tour registrations. The ad asks "Can you remove the battery from your phone? Can you open your laptop? What is hiding in there? Why is it unaccessible to us?" There are only 10 appointments available with Toosi, so if you find yourself pondering these very same queries, respond via Craigslist! The Out of Site programming runs thru September 6th. It looks like the tenacious Adriana Disman (Toronto/Montreal) will present several days worth of performance in the final week. According to the site, "Disman’s upcoming performances include the culmination of a 7-month project with DARE-DARE (MTL) entitled Intimacy with Fear (March 2014)." So much to see! Enjoy the final weeks of Out of Site Chicago! -Quinn ABOUT OUT OF SITE CHICAGOOut of Site curates cutting edge unexpected encounters in public space.
